Recent news suggested that Facebook could surpass Google in terms of worldwide unique visitors to their websites by late 2011 or early 2012 however, this may not be true anymore since a new gadget has appeared for Facebook that would allow users to access Facebook via Google wave. This means, that users as they slowly start to adopt Google wave will stop visiting facebook.com and thus, Google will continue to dominate when it comes to number of visitors.

I  am stilling waiting for more information around this gadget. As of now its still a rumour but a very likely one since Facebook did the same with Orkut.
